Handbag blast case: 3 held with mobile bombs
Detectives arrested three youths along with three mobile bombs at two parts in the capital Saturday night in connection with a bomb explosion case in Agargaon on July 17.
Ayesha Siddique, assistant programme officer of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) was injured when a bomb exploded in her handbag in Agargaon on the day. Police suspect the explosive was activated by a mobile phone.
Police also recovered one laptop, Tk 1,10,000 and some bomb making materials from their possessions.
The arrestees are Sohrab Hossain Ujjal, 27, Enamul Haque Mitul, 27, and SM Abu Hossain Sarowar, 32.
Acting on a tip-off, Detective Branch of police conducted two separate raids at Kazipara in Mirpur and Bhasantek areas around 10:00pm and made the arrest, Moshiur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner of DB who led the law enforcers, told The Daily Star.
Following the blast, police detained Ayesha, and her colleague Zubayer Ahmed and one Nurul Islam in this connection.
During primary interrogation, Zubayer confessed that he planted the explosive in Ayesha’s bag.
Earlier, he bought the bomb from Nurul for Tk 20,000, police said quoting Zubayer.
