BUET teachers suspend quitting decision
The protesting BUET teachers on Saturday announced to put off their decision to quit en masse until Jul 30.
The teachers, however, decided to continue with their two-hour long daily sit-in programme in front of the university’s academic building from 11am to 1pm demanding removal of the Vice Chancellor and the Pro-Vice Chancellor.
General Secretary of BUET Teachers Association, Asharful Islam, told bdnews24.com that the decisions were taken at a general meeting held after the day’s two-hour long sit-in protest programme that started at 11am.
Islam said the teachers’ platform would hold a meeting on Jul 30 to discuss overall situation where future course would be decided.
The teachers and students of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology had been demonstrating for long demanding resignation of the university’s two top officials alleging irregularities.
